Things to do in Greyton
There are well marked walks in Greyton, ranging from an easy stroll through the aromatic fynbos to a two or three day hike up and over the mountains to McGregor.
One of the more well-known trails is the one day hike across the Riviersonderend Mountains between Greyton and McGregor, for which a permit is required, with plenty of crystal clear drinking water and pools for swimming along the way. See the amazing waterfalls and spectacular views as you and your family explore this vast area of the Overberg
Greyton has two horse trail centres, one in the village itself and another located on a farm nearby, which also provides lessons for novices. Greyton’s tennis courts, next to the village green, are very popular, and one can rent bicycles on which to explore our lanes in safety as maximum speed limit in Greyton is 40 km/h. There are also bowling greens and the Greyton Bowling club so please let us know about booking for larger groups
Bridge, Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Line dancing, Tai Chi and Chi Gung are all offered locally, and you can treat yourself to an absolutely blissful Ayurvedic or Aromatherapy massage, or Kinesiology or Reiki therapy session in the beautiful, serene surroundings of several local healing centres. There are also Day Spa facilities in Greyton as well as the famous Hot springs and Spa in Caledon
Our stretch of Riviersonderend River offers swimming, canoeing and fishing. In actual fact these rivers have been used as film sets for the famous "fisherman" or "give that man a bells" Television commercial. This being said do look at the bar the film crew used in town called the Old Bell or previously know as The Post House.
4×4 trails can be found on a few of the nearby farms so please ask us for directions and contact details.
If your idea of activity is just to chill out with a book on the banks of the river or under an oak on the commonage, browse our interesting shops and art galleries, or hang out at one of our vibey, local coffee shops or restaurants, Greyton will not disappoint you either. Greyton is a magical place and you most surely be back to visit us again!
