Oewerzicht farm is located in the peaceful and picturesque Greyton Valley only 9 km from Greyton. Oewerzicht is an operational farm with fresh apples, pears, grapes or citrus available from January to June. The rest of the 600 ha farm consists of rolling wheat lands, many cattle and a herd of Reebok. Birdwatchers will also be delighted to see, amongst other, blue cranes, secretary birds, and large flocks of guinea fowl. You are of course free to hike all over the place, or bring your mountain bikes along to enjoy the farm. We also have fishing rods, tractor tubes. There are two lovely braai facilities on the riverbank to use. 

Oewerzicht farm has six tents accommodation each with its en-suite bathroom and seven cottages. Welgeleë and Bergzicht are semi-detached and was the original farmhouse. The old blue gum ceilings and Oregon pine doors creates a real farmhouse atmosphere. The cottages are located on the edge of a citrus orchard and about 100 m from the Riviersonderend River where you can do some excellent bass fishing. 

Each cottage has its own outside as well as an inside braai facility. The cottages are decorated with old Oregon pine and oak furniture that enhances the atmosphere. The two tree houses in the citrus orchards equipped with mattresses is ideal for mum and dad to take an afternoon nap or for the kids to play in. 

Uitsig are four freestanding cottages set next to each other about 300 m from the river on a hill with spectacular mountain views. Each cottage has two bedrooms with double beds, one bathroom, and open plan kitchen living room area with inside as well as outside braai facilities. Uitsig cottages do have a swimming pool between the four. All seven cottages are fully-equipped with all essential appliances. Towels, linen and wood are provided. Please note that we only accept two night bookings over weekends. During the week we do accept one night bookings.

Please bring your own food, swimming towels, fire lighters and matches.

 

Cottages

There are three farm style cottages (situated about 50 meters from the river):   Bergzicht, Welgeleë and Citrus.

Bergzicht and Welgelee are semi-detached and both have one bedroom with a queen size bed and two single beds in the living area. Both these cottages have an indoor and outdoor braai area, as well as a lovely and spacious verandah. These cottages accommodate 4 people each.(R750/night/cottage)

Citrus has 2 queen size beds and 2 single beds in two separate bedrooms and a small cottage at the back with a queen size bed and an en-suite bathroom. This cottage can accommodate 8 people. The cottage has a fireplace, an outside braai area and a large verandah for entertaining.(R850/night/cottage)

There are four Uitsig cottages are situated on the hill (about 300 meters from the river) and with panoramic views of the Riviersonderend mountain range.

All the Uitsig cottages have a living room, two bedrooms (one with a queen size bed and en-suite, one with two single beds), and separate bathrooms, indoor as well as outdoor braai facilities. The cottages have a communal plunge pool (next to Uitsig 1).

 

Tented Camps

Six tents (situated on the banks of the Sonderend river)

Rates: R600/night/tent

Four of the tents come with a queen size bed and two with 2 x single beds, all with en-suite bathrooms. Other features include a bar refrigerator, coffee making facilities, heater or fan, a comfortably sized veranda overlooking the river and a braai area.

There is a fully equipped communal kitchen with an indoor braai area,dining and lounge for safari tent guests.

Regret no pets allowed in the tents.

 

 Camping: 

Oewerzicht offers 24 grass camp sites, with power-points, next to the river.

There are modern bathrooms and braai facilites. Shaded stands are also available.

There is safe swimming and tubing in the river, and you are welcome to bring your own canoe's and fishing tackle.

For cycling enthusiasts there is also a challenging 25km Mountain Bike Trail, as well as hiking trails.

Regret - no animals allowed at the campsite or tented accommodation.
